Looking for sound effects

Please can anybody tell me where I could find some sound effects such as gunshots etc.
I am very new to short film making and would be greatful for any help.I am using a Canon Hi 8 camcorder and and Studio 400 Editing equipment. Thanks.

If you don't find what you want there, for a gunshot sound effect buy abox of roll caps (for a cap gun). Take three of the rolls and stack them like rings.
Glue them like that, it doesn't matter if the glue is dry. Put them back into the box. Stand them up the tall way and grab your sledge hammer. Get some one to record you hitting the caps, hard! This will get you a great sound effect that sounds like a shot gun, and if you do it at night, you get a huge flash that looks just lke a gun flash. It is also fun to do. Anyways you can import it into your video editing program and save it as a sound file. Then go to Zdnet.com and get a free program that will allow you to edit sound files and save them, such as Sound Handle or Sound Studio. Import your saved file into the program and edit anyunwanted noise, then save it as a sound file. Then whenever you need to you can just import the file into your editor.
